Il Postino Beach
One of Procida's most beautiful beaches is undoubtedly Pozzo Vecchio beach, on the western side of the island. Also known as the Spiaggia del Postino (Postman's Beach), it was here that one of the most intense scenes of the famous 1994 film was shot, the one in which Mario (Massimo Troisi) and the beautiful Beatrice (Mariagrazia Cucinotta) meet and fall in love for the first time.
Descending along the road that runs alongside the cemetery, characterised by a series of small buildings and domes that recall the island's typical architecture, you reach the small and welcoming horseshoe-shaped bay, mostly a public beach. The sand on the Spiaggia del Pozzo Vecchio (Old Well Beach), like all Procida's beaches, has a dark colour, reminiscent of its volcanic origin, a characteristic that gives the eye a unique play of contrasts, making the blue of the sea even more intense.
Once lying in the sun, which never seems to go down on this Procida beach, the hours pass slowly between long swims immersed in an uncontaminated natural landscape, romantic walks and a chat with friends at the small bar of the establishment, where you can take shelter in the hottest moments.
